California Toxic-Free Cosmetics Act Fails Amid Industry Pressure
CA state lawmakers were scheduled to vote on the Toxic-Free Cosmetics Act on April 23, but the state Assembly’s Environment, Safety, and Toxic Materials Committee put off the vote when it became clear that supporters did not have the necessary votes to move the bill forward.9/24/2018
PHMSA Pre-empts California Meal Breaks for Hazmat Drivers
In California, truck drivers are entitled to a 30-minute meal period after five hours of work and a second 30-minute meal break after ten hours of work. But for truck drivers who haul hazardous materials through the state, those breaks may no longer apply.6/22/2018
California to Update Underground Storage Tank Program
At a June 5 Board meeting, the California State Water Board proposed bolstering California’s Underground Storage Tank program requirements to bring the State program up to date with revised Federal UST rules. US EPA revised its UST program (40 CFR 280) in July 2015. The new EPA UST requirements take full effect in October 2018.3/13/2018
