Vermont Bans PFAS from Food Packaging and More
On May 18, Vermont Governor Phil Scott signed legislation into law that would effectively prohibit the sale of certain products containing PFAS. The legislation will ban these “Forever Chemicals” from food packaging, ski wax, firefighting foams, carpets, rugs, and aftermarket stain and water-resistant treatments.5/17/2021

25K Barrels Possibly Containing DDT Found Off California Coast
Last month, marine scientists identified as many as 25,000 barrels believed to contain dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, better known as DDT, in the Pacific Ocean. The hazardous waste barrels were discovered on the ocean floor between Catalina Island and the Los Angeles coast.5/4/2021
Fast-Food Giant to Phase Out PFAS from Food Packaging
One of the largest multinational fast-food chains announced plans to eliminate per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from its consumer-facing packaging in US and Canada by the end of 2021.
