3-Day RCRA e-Manifest Meeting Starts October 4

Posted on 8/15/2022 by Roger Marks

US EPA will host a three-day virtual public meeting on October 4—6 to explore recommendations for increasing use of electronic hazardous waste manifests. The meeting will run from 10 AM to 6 PM ET each day.

The theme of the October virtual meeting is “Roadmap to 100% Electronic Manifests.” In the four years since the system was launched on June 30, 2018, less than half of one percent of hazardous waste manifests received by EPA were submitted in fully-electronic or hybrid format—25,000 out of approximately 7 million.

During the October meeting, the e-Manifest System Advisory Board will discuss potential policy and technical changes to the e-Manifest system to increase usage. EPA estimates that, once electronic manifests are widely adopted, the transition will save state and industry users more than $50 million per year.

To register for the meeting, visit EPA's website. Public comments can be submitted through the public docket until September 27.

Recordings of EPA's most recent e-Manifest meetings, held on October 27 and November 3, 2021, are available for download in the Supporting Materials section of the public meetings web page at EPA.gov

e-Manifest Board Adds Six Members

On July 27, EPA added six members to the e-Manifest Advisory Board, which is made up of representatives from the waste management and transportation industries, state regulatory agency personnel, and computer science specialists.
