OSHA Gives Employers 2 More Weeks to Submit Injury and Illness Data

Posted on 12/4/2017 by Roger Marks

Working_On_Computer_2.jpgOSHA this month announced an additional two-week extension for employers who must electronically submit injury and illness data under the new “Improved Tracking of Workplace Injuries and Illnesses” rule finalized in May 2016
.
Earlier this year, OSHA extended the deadline for employers to submit injury and illness data until December 1, 2017. Now, employers will have until December 15.

New Electronic Injury and Illness Reporting Requirements

OSHA’s electronic injury and illness reporting rule  requires certain employers to submit electronic injury and illness data logged throughout the year on OSHA Forms 300, 300A, and/or 301. Click the link above for more information about what’s in that OSHA Final Rule.

The Final Rule also included anti-retaliation provisions that aimed to protect workers from employer retaliation for reporting unsafe work conditions. OSHA may post a proposed rulemaking to rescind, revise, or reconsider these anti-retaliation provisions, which took effect in December 2016. In October 2016, OSHA released a guidance document to help employers comply with the anti-retaliation portions of the Final Rule.
