Addendum I to the 2023 IATA DGR Released

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) recently released the first Addendum to the 64th Edition of its Dangerous Goods Regulations. For hazardous materials air shippers, mandatory compliance with the new IATA DGR starts on January 1.

Corrections and revisions noted in Addendum I include:

  • An addition to the definition of “Division 6.1 Toxic substances” in 3.6.1.1.
  • A new note in Sec. 8 for shippers of liquid extracts (UN 1169 and UN 1197)
  • A syntax change in Special Provision A111 for oxygen generators
  • On the List of Dangerous Goods (4.2), revised the ERG codes for UN 1950 and UN 2249

These IATA DGR Packing Instructions (PI) have been amended:

  • PI Y203 for limited quantities of aerosols and UN 2037
  • PI 970 (Section II) for lithium metal cells or batteries in equipment (UN 3091)  

Addendum I also includes revisions to the operator variations for Turkish Airlines, SF Airlines, Qantas Airways, Qatar Airways, Aeroflot, Oman Air, and LAN Ecuador. A new operator variation section was added for Uganda Airlines (UR).
