FMCSA Safety Advisory: Cargo Tank Motor Vehicles
On November 10, 2016, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration issued a Safety Advisory to notify owners and operators of DOT 407 and DOT 412 cargo tank motor vehicles (CTMVs) manufactured by a company called Keith Huber Incorporated.
Using these CTMVs in specification hazardous materials service is prohibited. To continue using these vehicles, owners must have a qualified person complete repairs to bring it in compliance with the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR).

FMCSA notes that Keith Huber Incorporated stopped manufacturing CTMVs in May 2013. Another company, Keith Huber Corporation, also manufacturers CTMVs. CTMVs manufactured by Keith Huber Corporation after May 1, 2013 are not subject to this safety advisory.
