NMFTA Updates Bill of Lading Standards
New standards for Bills of Lading (BOL) used in ground transportation of less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments took effect on August 13, 2016. They affect the Uniform Bill of Lading, the Straight Bill of Lading, and the Straight BOL-Short Form. US shippers and carriers should review the updated requirements, which are found in Supplement 2 of the National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) version NMF 100-AP.9/19/2016

New DOT Lithium Battery Rules Near Final Stage
A new lithium battery rulemaking from the US DOT’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) is nearing completion. The new rule, which will affect shipments of lithium batteries offered as standalone articles (e.g., not in or with equipment), has been received by the Office of Management and Budget for approval.8/22/2016
